Woman in hospital after she was ‘raped’ in street in London

A woman was reportedly raped in the early hours of the morning in south London.

The alleged victim, a woman in her 30s, stated that the incident occurred near West Croydon railway station shortly before 1 am on Saturday.

Following the assault, she was transported to the hospital from the location near the junction of London Road and Kidderminster Road. At the scene, a 28-year-old man was apprehended on suspicion of rape and, as a precaution, was also conveyed to the hospital.

A police cordon has been established along a major road between Croydon and Norbury, and it is expected to remain in place until around 10 am, as reported by MyLondon.

Detective Sergeant Walter remarked, “I know the local community will be incredibly concerned to hear about this terrible incident. I want to offer my full reassurance that a thorough investigation is underway. Local residents should expect to see an increased police presence in the area as we continue our enquiries.”
