Two children have been apprehended on suspicion of murder following the discovery of their mother’s lifeless body in the boot of her car.

The deceased, a 48-year-old woman identified only as Silvia L G, was found gagged in the boot of her car at approximately 9 pm on Wednesday.

Police stumbled upon her body in a garage near the family residence in Castro Urdiales, a town in northern Spain close to Bilbao, and realised that the two boys were absent.

Both youths were detained in Cotolino Park at around 2:15 am today following a police search.

One of them is reportedly below the age of 14, falling under the threshold of criminal responsibility according to Spanish law, while the other is older but still a minor.
