A two-year-old girl, identified as Annabelle Mackey, was discovered floating in a pond very close to her residence, and a woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the tragic incident.
Annabelle was found in the water in an “unresponsive” state on Sunday, following her reported disappearance in Hampshire.
Police were alerted to the toddler’s residence on Forge Road, Kingsley, near Bordon, at approximately 5:02 pm that day.
An immediate search to locate the young girl was initiated, and she was discovered in Kingsley Pond shortly thereafter, just 200 meters from her home.
Residents recalled witnessing the toddler wrapped in blankets and being placed into an ambulance as paramedics made desperate efforts to save her life.
However, Annabelle sadly passed away on Monday.
