A 15-year-old girl has been tragically killed in a horror road crash in Dumfries and Galloway as six were rushed to hospital – two fighting for life.
Police Scotland are appealing for information following the fatal road collision on the M74 near Annan on Wednesday, July 21.
A Ford Transit Tourneo minibus collided with a white articulated lorry while travelling northbound at Junction 20 around 4.45pm.
The minibus was carrying the driver and six passengers.
Emergency services had rushed to the scene including police, fire crews and the Scottish Ambulance Service.
A 15-year-old girl was taken to Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle where she later died from injuries.
A 42-year-old woman was rushed to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough and a 17-year-old boy was taken to Royal Victoria Hospital in Newcastle.
Medical staff are currently describing the condition of both the woman and the boy as critical.
A six-month-old baby girl, a 7-year-old boy, a 12 year old boy and the 45-year-old male driver of the minibus were also all taken to the Cumberland Infirmary where they were treated for minor injuries.
The road was shutdown for approximately 12 hours while police carried out their investigations at the scene.
