SHEFFIELD UNITED women’s star Maddy Cusack has passed away at the age of 27. The Blades confirmed the tragic news in a statement on Thursday.
Midfielder Cusack had recently commenced her sixth season with the club, having signed a new contract in July, and had achieved her 100th appearance last season.
A statement read: “Sheffield United Football Club is deeply saddened to announce the unfortunate passing of Maddy Cusack.
“Maddy, a member of the women’s team since 2019 and also a marketing executive for the Football Club, passed away on Wednesday.
“A highly regarded player, Maddy, aged 27, achieved the significant milestone of 100 appearances for Sheffield United Women last season.”
