Sadness and shock for fans as sports legend dies

A fifth player from the South African World Cup-winning rugby team of 1995 has tragically passed away, following a fatal car crash that has sparked discussions of a curse.

Hannes Strydom, a robust 6ft 6in tall second row, aged 58, lost his life in the wreckage of a horrific car crash on Sunday on the N4 near Witbank in Mpumalanga Province.

This marks the death of a third of the Springbok starting line-up that played at Ellis Park in Johannesburg in front of newly elected President Nelson Mandela and went on to become legends.
