Police close off area of London after reports ‘explosive device’ found

Police and firefighters have been scrambled to a flat near Pimlico on Thursday evening to reports of explosive device.

Emergency Services were called at approximately 6.30pm to Vauxhall Bridge Road, between Wilton Road and Drummond Gate, to reports that someone was attempting to make an explosive device.

A large cordon has been put in place by police and the road, the A202, is closed in both directions.

It is currently unclear if there are any injuries or if the incident is terror-related.

Images from Transport for London’s traffic cameras online show a police van blocking the road.

The street has also been taped off with pedestrians prevented from using the pavements by police guarding the cordon.

The Met police have been approached for further comment.
