Olympic icon Alexis Pinturault was airlifted to hospital following a horrific crash. Pinturault, 33, was taking part in an Alpine skiing World Cup super-G in Kitzbühel, Austria, when he suffered the terrifying crash. The Frenchman required urgent medical attention after colliding with a gate.
He managed to get back onto his feet but quickly collapsed back down into the snow. Pinturault’s wife, Romane, watched on in horror alongside their three-year-old daughter, as the Frenchman was airlifted off the mountain and taken to hospital.
The French Ski Federation has since confirmed that Pinturault has suffered a significant bone bruise on the medial tibial plateau, along with a small fracture and an injury to the medial meniscus.
“After a fall during the Wengen Super G, Alexis Pinturault suffered a left knee (injury) and has pain in his wrist. He was airlifted to Interlaken to undergo examination. He did not lose consciousness.”
