Las Vegas police have charged a man over the drive-by shooting of hip-hop star Tupac Shakur 27 years ago. According to Sky News, Duane ‘Keffe’ D Davis has been charged after being arrested earlier today.
The publication notes that a Nevada grand jury has indicted the 60-year-old on a charge of murder, with the use of a deadly weapon. Davis is the uncle of Orlando Anderson, who is said to have been involved in a casino brawl with Shakur and was one of his known rivals.
Shakur was 25 when he was gunned down in a drive-by shooting near the Las Vegas Strip on the night of September 7, 1996.
The arrest earlier today is said to have come two months after Las Vegas police raided a home in connection with the murder. In a statement shared at the time, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) said: ‘LVMPD can confirm a search warrant was served in Henderson, Nevada on July 17, 2023, as part of the ongoing Tupac Shakur homicide investigation. ‘We will have no further comment at this time.’
