A man has been charged with murder following the tragic death of a woman due to a gunshot wound.
Carrie Slater, aged 37, was discovered with severe injuries on Thursday in Kings Road, Long Clawson, near Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire.
Law enforcement officials have confirmed that she passed away in the hospital on Saturday evening.
Richard Basson, residing at the same address, was taken into custody and has subsequently been charged with murder. Additionally, he faces charges of possessing a prohibited weapon with a length less than 30/60cm and possessing ammunition without the required certificate.
The 44-year-old will make an appearance at Leicester Magistrates’ Court today.
A post-mortem examination determined that Ms. Slater had succumbed to a gunshot wound.
