A SCHOOL has been closed amid a significant ongoing incident in Greenock. Police have cordoned off the area on Drumfrochar Road in the Inverclyde town.

Police vehicles and tape have sealed off the street, leading to the closure of St Patrick’s Primary School. The exact nature of the incident is currently unknown.

A notice from Inverclyde Council informed parents, stating: “Due to a police incident near St Patrick’s Primary, the school is closed today, Monday 27 November 2023.

“P1-6 should report to Whinhill Primary and P7 to Notre Dame High instead. “Drumfrochar Road is also closed due to the police cordon. Access to Whinhill Primary is via Murdieston Street. School meals will be provided, and the school day will finish for St Patrick’s pupils at 2.45 pm.”
