Legendary broadcaster Alastair Stewart joined Camilla Tominey on GB News on Sunday to discuss his decision to step back from his role in March.
In a courageous and candid conversation, Alastair disclosed to Camilla that he has been diagnosed with dementia.
He shared that approximately “six to nine months” ago, he began experiencing a sense of disorientation while performing simple tasks at home. These concerns prompted him to seek medical advice from his GP and express his fears of potentially having early-onset dementia.
Following medical scans, it was revealed that he had suffered a series of strokes and received a diagnosis of dementia. Alastair acknowledged that dementia is an incurable condition but is actively taking steps to manage its effects.
He mentioned that he has quit smoking and is now taking his beloved family dogs on longer walks. Additionally, he has embraced word puzzles to keep his brain active in an effort to alleviate the impact of the condition.
