A body has been discovered in the search for a missing woman, following appeals made by friends and best-selling author Sophie Heawood. Vanessa Ford was last seen on doorbell footage near her residence in East London on Saturday.
Concerned friends of the mother launched desperate pleas to locate her, with Sophie Heawood, renowned for her book “The Hungover Games,” joining the efforts.
In an official statement issued today, the Metropolitan Police stated, “A woman was reported missing to the Met on the evening of Saturday, September 23, and a series of inquiries were initiated to locate her. We have been made aware of an investigation by the British Transport Police following a fatality on the tracks between Dalston Kingsland and Hackney Central on Saturday morning, and we are in communication with them. While formal identification is pending, Vanessa Ford’s family has been informed of this development.”
A spokesperson for the British Transport Police added, “Officers were summoned to the rail line near Dalston Kingsland at 11.49 am on September 23, following reports of an incident involving a person on the tracks. Paramedics also responded, and sadly, an individual was pronounced deceased at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.”
