Armed police have locked down Lewisham High Street and surrounded a nearby HSBC following an ‘emergency incident’.
There was ‘mayhem’ as the street was cordoned off, with ‘tons’ of ambulance, fire, and police vehicles seen on the road.
A man was seen shouting from a window above the High Street, and there were reports he was brandishing a metal object.
Images on social media appear to show a man wielding a knife from a window above a row of shops.
Armed police first rushed to the scene shortly before 11 and were locked in a standoff with the shirtless man, who later donned a dressing gown.
The Met say they are now speaking to a man at the address.
Officers are trying to establish whether anyone else is inside the man’s property.
