BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker, 44, has taken to Twitter to break his silence on his absence from the show. It comes after viewers have been left questioning his whereabouts, as his co-star Louise Minchin, 52, has been fronting the show with other members of the presenting team, including Charlie Stayt and Ben Thompson.
Some viewers have wondered whether Dan’s absence is linked to his recent announcement that he will be competing in Strictly Come Dancing this year.
Louise was quizzed on Dan’s break from BBC Breakfast when she shared a selfie from the studios with Ben.
She captioned the post: “Good morning from #BBCBreakfast and Ben has just made it into my morning selfie. @BBCBenThompson.”
One fan took the opportunity to ask when Dan would return to the famous red sofa, writing on the micro-blogging site: “When is the lovely @mrdanwalker joining you again Louise?
“Or is he having time off to train for @bbcstrictly?”
Louise reassured the viewer, revealing in response: “He will be back soon, don’t worry.”
Dan then spoke out on the situation himself, explaining he was making the most of spending quality time with his family.
He penned this morning in view of his 722,000 followers: “Back soon.
“Just spending some time with the family,” alongside a thumbs up emoji.
