A rescue operation has reportedly been launched after a military jet apparently crashed in San Diego Bay, marking the latest aviation incident in the US this year. The military jet, believed to be an F/A-18 Hornet, crash-landed on Wednesday morning.

The cause of the incident is not yet clear, but the two pilots on board were reportedly able to eject from the aircraft over the city.

Marine Traffic, a web platform monitoring naval traffic worldwide, appeared to show a US military vessel possibly assisting in the rescue and recovery operation off the coast of the bay.
