BREAKING: 40 Firefighters tackle ‘serious explosion’ in London

Roads in Southall, London are blocked off as 40 firefighters tackle a serious explosion and house fire in Southall.

London Fire Brigade sent crews in six fire engines to the fire at an end of terrace house on North Road, in the area of Ealing, at 9.48am today (Tuesday, October 12).

Part of the house went up in flames, with crews still tackling the fire on the first floor of the home, and there is ‘significant structural damage’.

North Road remains closed at the junctions of High Street, Kingsley Avenue and Shruberry Road as firefighters continue at the scene.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area wherever possible.

Station Commander Matt Williams said: “Firefighters are likely to be on scene for some time and there a number of schools and colleges in the area which may impact traffic later on this afternoon.”

Ambulances are also present, and one man is being treated for injuries at the scene. His condition is not yet known.

The cause of the fire hasn’t been identified.
