A teenage woman accused of slapping a man’s bottom on a night out is to appear at court charged with sexual assault.
Beauty therapist Scarlett Bareham, 19, allegedly touched him without his consent, sparking a fracas outside a nightclub.
Portsmouth Magistrates Court heard that she had been clubbing with friends Hannah Phillips, 19, and Fiona Hoyle, 19, last summer.
The group had gone for a night out in the Guildhall Walk area of Portsmouth, Hampshire, which is home to a number of bars.
When a woman objected to Bareham’s actions, Hoyle allegedly attacked her – kicking and punching her until she fell unconscious.
Hoyle, who wore a black blazer and dark trousers in court on Wednesday, is charged with affray and assault causing actual bodily harm and she will also next appear at Portsmouth Crown Court.
Bareham, of Havant, Hampshire, was dressed in a smart black top and trousers and accompanied by her family, is also charged with affray.
They spoke only to confirm their names and addresses during today’s 20 minute-long hearing.
Hoyle, of Southsea, Hants, and Bareham are on unconditional bail and are expected to give their pleas at crown court next month.
Phillips, of Bedhampton, Hants, who is charged with assault, will appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court next month.
