BBC presenter facing new claims he ‘appeared in underwear on video call’ with teenager

A BBC presenter, who remains unnamed, is reportedly at the center of allegations involving payment to a teenager for explicit images. According to The Sun, the presenter was seen in a video call sitting on a sofa in his home while wearing underwear.

The identity of both the presenter and the teenager, who was allegedly 17 years old when the payments began, has not been disclosed. The teenager’s mother informed The Sun that she discovered a picture of the presenter on her child’s phone, showing him “sitting on a sofa in his house in his underwear,” which was described as “a picture from some kind of video call.”

The teenager’s family lodged a complaint with the BBC on May 19, as reported by The Sun. While the presenter is currently off air, no suspension has been implemented thus far.

Dame Caroline Dinenage, a senior Conservative MP and chair of the Culture, Media, and Sport Committee, emphasized the importance of TV companies establishing appropriate systems and processes to prevent the abuse of power and influence by their stars, who can significantly impact the lives and careers of others. She further expressed the need for the BBC’s HR department to promptly investigate these recent allegations and provide an explanation since the story first emerged in May.

In response to social media speculation, several BBC stars took to Twitter on Saturday to affirm that they were not the presenter referred to in The Sun’s article.
