Teenage boy’s kindness to girl getting her period on bus goes viral

A teenage boy is being widely praised for his reaction to a girl getting her period on a bus.

His actions were revealed by the girl’s mother, who posted what he had done in a Facebook group.

The post was then pasted into another Facebook group and a screenshot of the text has since gone viral on reddit.

She began by explaining how her daughter started her period when on the bus and a boy she doesn’t really know – who is a year older than her – pulled her aside.

While other stories might go on to talk about teenage boys mocking her over the embarrassing incident or even laughing with their friends behind her back, this young man showed her kindness.

She wrote: “My daughter started her period on the bus ride home today… and a boy a year older than her… that she doesn’t really know… pulled her aside and whispered in her ear that she had a stain on the back of her pants

“[He] gave her his sweater to tie around her waist so she could walk home off of the bus.

She said she was kind of embarrassed and originally said it’s okay. But the boy insisted and told her ‘I have sisters, it’s all good!’

She finished her post with a message for the boy’s mother, writing: “If you are this boy’s Mom.. I want to say thank you and that you are raising him right!!

“We hear so many bad things about today’s youth and I wanted to share something positive!”

When the post was shared on social networking site reddit , it received nearly 20,000 ‘upvotes’ and hundreds of comments.

One wrote: “Whenever I read these kind of stories I feel that kids these days are more mindful than we are. As a kid I probably wouldn’t have even noticed, let alone know what to do in that sort of situation.”

Another said: “More over how impressive that he thought to do this even. When I was in middle school if I saw this I’d probably never put two and two together or thought to help this girl out.”

Everyone agreed his actions were very chivalrous – well done to that boy, whoever you are.
