Smiling Kate Middleton and William join Queen as they head to church

A beaming Kate Middleton joined Prince William and the Queen as they headed to a church service near Balmoral.

The Duchess of Cambridge and the Queen, dressed in a bright pink outfit, are seen smiling as they sit together in the back seat of the car.

Prince William is also seen looking cheerful as the royal family arrives for the service at Crathie Kirk Church.

Prince Charles also attended the service in Aberdeenshire in a separate car with wife Camilla.

William and Kate will be spending this August bank holiday with the Queen in Balmoral Castle, where the monarch usually heads in the summer.

Two weeks ago the Queen was seen arriving at the same church with Prince Andrew.

Today she dressed for the bank holiday heatwave in a £225 midi green shirt dress by designer Michael Kors.

She allowed it to stand out by adding a fascinator and by wrapping herself in a black coat with gold button detail.

Kate went for the less visually striking but equally as stylish option of a sleek black number which she wore with gold hoop earings.

William also played things safe, opting for a blue suit and red coloured tie.

The pair’s family weekend began on Friday when they had lunch at a lodge near Loch Muick.

Timothy Laurence and Princess Anne were joined by Peter and Autumn Philips for their journey to the church.

Crathie Kirk Church has been worshipped at by the country’s monarch ever since Queen Victoria first attended its service back in 1848.

While William decided to spend this weekend with his grandmother, Prince Harry and Meghan have not made the trip.

Last week the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were slammed as hypocrites for being vocal about climate change while taking private jets to travel.

The two took four jets in just 11 days for trips including a holiday to Ibiza for Meghan’s 38th birthday.

William and Kate however, boarded a commercial jet with their three kids to make it up to the Scottish residence.

Before she was joined by the younger members of the royal family Her Majesty lunched with her husband Prince Philip at Balmoral on August 15.

She had been seen horse riding two days before hand.

The monarch was joined by Prince Edward, 55, her youngest son, who was pictured riding alongside his daughter Lady Louise Windsor, 15.
