THIS is the shocking moment a Lidl security guard savagely punches and stamps on a shopper inside a London mall.
Dramatic smartphone footage shows the supermarket employee violently attacking a man in front of other horrified customers at Stratford Shopping Centre.
During the scuffle, the man can been seen cowering in a corner as he is repeatedly punched, kicked and stamped on.
Police confirmed he was attacked after being refused entry to the store.
Lidl launched an investigation into the incident, which happened at around 10pm on Thursday May 3, and says the guard had been sacked.
Bosses said they are “shocked and appalled” by the vicious assault.
The clip was captured by a stunned shopper, who came across the incident whilst walking through the popular shopping centre.
In the video the guard violently attacks the man, who can be seen trying to protect himself and trying to get back on his feet.
Passersby eventually intervene and manage to stop the savage beating.
One onlooker, 25, an antique trader from Canary Wharf, said: “He was getting a real beating.
“I’m sure a security guard should not be using that much force.
“I was so shocked. I felt like I had to do something but there was nothing I could have done.
“The way it was handled was appalling. It’s way over the level of force I would expect to see from a guard.
“I saw excessive force being used for no reason.”
The video shows the guard punching and kicking the man while the shopper attempted to get up on his feet.
After being knocked to the floor completely, the man moves into a doorway before being violently stamped on.
Store workers from Lidl and members of the public then appear to break up the scuffle.
A spokesperson for Stratford Shopping Centre confirmed the incident involved a security guard who was working at Lidl.
A spokesperson for Lidl said: “We were shocked and appalled by this incident and sincerely apologise to anyone involved.
“Under no circumstances do we condone or tolerate behaviour of this nature, and we can confirm that Lidl is no longer working with this individual.
“We have alerted the police to the matter and will support them in any way possible.
“A thorough internal investigation has also been launched alongside our external security provider, to ensure that full and appropriate action is taken.”
A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said: “Police were called at around 22:05hrs on Thursday, 30 May to reports of an assault outside of a shop on The Mall, Newham.
“A man alleged he had been the victim of an attack by a security guard after being refused entry to the store.
“Investigations are ongoing; no arrests have been made.”
