POLICE have arrested a teenager carrying a knife after reports of a man trying to lure two children playing in a Brit park into a nearby woods
Officers were scrambled to the incident in a park in Bognor Regis, a seaside town in West Sussex on the south coast of England, yesterday morning.
Reports said a man had been seen acting suspiciously towards children playing in West Park at around 11.45am on Tuesday.
The man had allegedly tried to lure the kids into a wooded area of the park, but the children ran back to their parents.
Police arrived at the scene and arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of possession of a knife.
Detectives are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the worrying incident.
Detective Inspector Pauline Lane said: “We responded to a report that a man had attempted to entice two children into a wooded area of the park.
“The children were unharmed and ran back to their parents.
“We are trying to establish the circumstances of the incident and are appealing for anyone who saw what happened or has any information to get in touch with us.
“The park was busy at the time and there were lots of people around.
“We have stepped up patrols in the park and surrounding area and if anyone has any concerns please speak to our officers.”
