A MUM killed her baby son by smashing his head against his cot because he kept crying, it is alleged.
The 22-year-old, known only as Yekaterina, is claimed to have begun beating one-year-old Vanya at the family home because the noise was “making her annoyed”.
The incident occurred on June 23 in a village on the north-western edge of Moscow.
Local police launched an investigation after the baby’s father found him lying on the floor unconscious with blood coming from his mouth.
The boy’s mother, who is currently six months pregnant with her second child, reportedly took the infant from his cot after he woke up and began crying.
Unable to soothe him, she became irritated and hit the baby on the head with her palm, it is claimed.
When he continued to cry, she allegedly she took him by the legs and smashed him against the crib before throwing him on the floor.
The boy’s 21-year-old father, known only as Denis, had been smoking on a balcony and came to investigate after hearing a noise from the bedroom.
He called an ambulance and Vanya was rushed to an intensive care unit in a coma.
Despite efforts to save him, he died one week later without regaining consciousness.
A postmortem found the child had died from severe head injuries after “being hit with an object several times”, according to local media.
‘SHE HAS NO REGRETS’
Denis later told police that his wife confessed to the killing a few days after the incident, saying Vanya had been “crying and making her annoyed”.
Because she remains pregnant, Yekaterina has not been taken into custody and has been allowed to stay at home.
Denis’s mother, Marina, told local media: ”Yekaterina did not feed the boy in time and he cried a lot.
”I talked to her and she does not have any regrets about what she had done.
“She does not care that she killed her child.
She said she is fed up with having a pregnant belly and that she wants to be jailed rather than taken in a maternity hospital.”
Denis is currently planning to break up with Yekaterina and take custody of their baby after it is born.
The investigation is ongoing.
