MEGHAN MARKLE and Prince Harry received a present from Kate, Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William in an attempt to pacify an alleged feud among the brothers, royal correspondent Chris Ship claimed.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been dogged by persistent rumours of a feud with Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge. The two brothers and sisters-in-law have been said to be involved in an ongoing rift since the Duchess of Sussex joined the Royal Family last year but an Easter visit to Windsor may have pacified the couples. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge travelled to Frogmore Cottage, the new residence of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, following the Easter Service at St George’s Chapel to visit Meghan and Harry as the pair awaits to welcome their first child.
Royal correspondent Chris Ship told Today: “They took with them, we hear, a housewarming present when they went round for a meeting.
“You could call it a ‘clear-the-air’ meeting in some respects.
We don’t know how well it went.”
Mr Ship was among the insiders who first reported about the ongoing rift between Prince Harry and Prince William, writing the break had become so deep as to cause a “complete and utter breakdown of communication”.
Mr Ship wrote: “No one is entirely sure what triggered it, or whether it’s related to one issue or many issues, but in royal circles, few will deny that there has been a fraternal rift – and it’s made things more than a little tricky.”
Kate, Duchess of Cambridge is believed to have prompted the Easter meeting after asking Prince Harry to extend an olive branch to her husband.
During the Easter Service, Harry and William were barely seen interacting and did not even appear to acknowledge each other.
Meghan Markle, who did not attend the service as she is currently on maternity leave waiting for the Royal Baby to be born, and Harry later invited Kate and William to Frogmore Cottage for a visit of their new home.
The once-dubbed ‘fab four’ were reported to have had tea and chatted for around 30 minutes,
After the meeting, a royal source says that the brother’s relationship is now “back on track”.
Last Thursday, Kate and Harry were seen laughing together as they arrived at Westminster Abbey to represent the Royal Family at the ANZAC Day Service.
A source said: “The Duchess and Harry have developed a very close bond over the years.
“Kate is acutely aware of the importance of William and Harry getting along, not just because of perception but their collective responsibility to the monarchy as a whole.
“Harry has acted as counsel to his brother throughout William and Kate’s more turbulent years, and the three of them had gone on to form the most tremendous partnership.”
With Harry and Meghan about to become parents, it seems a good time to repair the once-close relationship.
