This is the terrifying moment a man was fatally attacked by a bull during a Spanish festival.
Horrific footage shows the man scurrying up the steps of a platform to escape a raging bull at an annual Spanish festival held in Pinoso, in the province of Alicante, Spain on Thursday.
The bull can be seen charging towards the man at full speed, knocking him to the floor and goring him in his left thigh.
The victim was flung across the staircase onto the ground as the beast continued its attack.
Spectators rushed to his aid but they were unable to thwart the bull as it continued to pummel the man.
One passer by managed to divert the bull’s attention causing the beast to run off in the other direction, as several men rushed to the victim’s aid.
The man suffered an eight-inch gash to his calf during the attack.
He was treated by stand-by doctors at the venue, before being being transported to Elda Hospital for an emergency operation.
The victim died on the operating due to a major artery tear, causing him to bleed to death.
Town officials held a minute’s silence and cancelled all the festivities planned for the day.
The man, from the nearby town Petrer, has not been named.
His funeral was held at 6pm on Saturday.
The Civil Guard and local magistrate are carrying out investigations into the incident.
A spokesman for Petrer Town Hall said: “We deeply regret what has happened and offer our condolences to the dead man’s family.”
Pinoso mayor Lazaro Azorin added: “Pinoso feels the pain of his family.”
Event organiser Francisco Albert said: “The man who died was a professional who took part in these events regularly and knew what they involved. He certainly wasn’t a novice.
The first time the animal got him nothing happened but the second time it trapped him against the steps and that’s when it gored him.
“It affected an artery and he died on the operating table at hospital after receiving emergency medical attention from doctors here.”
