Katie Price pleads GUILTY to driving offences and faces up to 6 months in prison

Katie Price has pleaded guilty to one count of driving while disqualified at her magistrates hearing – and to a separate count of driving without proper insurance

Katie Price has pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified, after she was caught driving two of her children home from the airport while under a driving ban.

The 40-year-old mum of five pleaded guilty to one count of driving while banned when she appeared at Crawley Magistrates Court this morning.

She also pleaded guilty to driving without third-party insurance.

Katie could be sent to prison for up to six months and be forced to wear an ankle tag if she’s handed a community service sentence.

Wearing an enormous fur hat and a fur-lined poncho, Katie was escorted out of a black saloon car flanked by two bodyguards and her friend, and arrived at court, where she entered her plea.

She had handed herself in to Sussex Police last July after she was papped behind the wheel of a car, driving the 24 miles back from Gatwick airport to her home with her youngest two children – Jett and Bunny – in the back.

But she was still not supposed to be driving, as she’d been handed a six-month ban from the roads in February 2018 after she was caught speeding 60mph in a 50mph zone in June 2017.

She failed to provide details of who was driving and didn’t notify police when her speeding ticket came through, resulting in a hearing at Brighton Magistrates’ Court hearing – which she didn’t turn up to.

Katie was handed another six points on her driver’s licence in her absence, meaning an immediate six-month ban. She was also given a £750 fine, plus costs of £200 and a £75 surcharge.

Pictures of her driving in July emerged, and she confessed to getting behind the wheel before her ban was up.

In an Instagram statement, the former glamour model blamed the lapse on her chaotic lifestyle and said she had handed herself in to police.

“Been on such an emotional rollercoaster the last 6 months and my head has been all over the place, so much so, that I thought my driving ban was up,” she wrote.

“After driving to Harvey’s Hospital appointment I have NOW found out that I don’t get my license back until 8th August.

“With this on my conscience I called the police and reported myself. I’ve come such a long way and just want easy life now. I have got out of a hole and am finally happy and looking forward to being my old independent self.”

However, Sussex Police confirmed in September that Katie had failed to attend an interview with officers about the matter.

A woman who was reported for driving while disqualified has spoken to police, but failed to attend a meeting with officers on September 28 to discuss the matter,” said a spokesman.

Katie was then summonsed to appear at Crawley Magistrates Court today charged with one count of driving while disqualified and a separate count of using a motor vehicle on the road without third party insurance.
