The veteran left his daughter after struggling with PTSD, which sent him down a spiral of drug use and depression – but sadly their reunion did not last long
A guest on The Jeremy Kyle Show sadly died just months after reuniting with his daughter and meeting his granddaughter for the first time.
Mark Sinclair, a veteran, left his daughter Cerys eight years before his appearance on the show, due to his personal struggles.
He had PTSD and struggled to cope, turning to drugs such as heroin to help him move through the pain.
Eventually, he was able to pick himself up and was clean for four years when he went on the show to reunite with Cerys once again.
Mark told Jeremy: “I was at a bad place in my life because through the forces I got into drugs because I didn’t know anything about PTSD
“I felt she deserved better than what I… I wasn’t giving her nothing at the time.
“It’s just been because I’ve sorted myself out, it’s just been Cerys, Cerys, Cerys everyday. She is on my mind, she is there the last thing at night, she’s there first thing in the morning, everything.”
Jeremy almost broke down in tears as he listened to Mark’s story, before going onto the stage to speak to Cerys, who had no idea Mark was waiting for her in the wings.
As she described her pain at losing her dad when she was so young, she wept uncontrollably when she was told he was waiting for her, and she sprang from her seat to go and meet him backstage.
The pair embraced for a long while and, adding a surprise for Mark, Cerys revealed she had a four-month old daughter for him to meet.
Mark looked totally shocked as he was handed the baby and he began kissing her head.
Jeremy ended the show but fans at home were shocked when a post-script revealed Mark had sadly died just three months after the recording.
The post-script read: “Mark and Cerys spent quality time with each other after the show, but tragically Mark passed away three months after meeting Cerys.
“Both Cerys and Mark’s family were happy for the show to be televised.”
No information was given as to how Mark died, but an image was shown of him hugging his daughter and granddaughter outside the building.
Fans were aghast at the news, taking to Twitter to share their upset at Mark’s sad death.
The Jeremy Kyle Show airs weekdays at 9.25am on ITV.
