AN innocent man claims he is living a nightmare after being mistaken for his paedophile identical twin brother.
Owen Evans, 42, said his partner has been subjected to harassment when walking down the street in Swansea.
He claims they have been accused of living with “paedo” and fears he will have to “constantly look over his shoulder”.
His brother Gavin Oliver Evans, from Glanamman, was jailed for four years after trading images of child abuse.
Swansea Crown Court heard he also took part in sexualised online conversations with vulnerable young girls.
Cops later found images of girls as young as four being sexually abused on his mobile phone.
His devastated brother told Wales Online: “I will have a lifetime of people calling me a paedophile – I am going to be constantly looking over my shoulder.
I will have a lifetime of people calling me a paedophile – I am going to be constantly looking over my shoulder.
“My partner was accused of living with a paedo.”
He added: “What he has done is shocking – I was mortified – he played down what he was arrested for.”
“I knew he had been up to no good for something but I didn’t know the ins and outs of it.
“My older brother couldn’t believe it.”
Owen, who works in security, said his brother should have been given a longer sentence.
He added: “He’s got no worries for the next couple of years – we are the ones who will serve the time.
“If people are going to mistake me for him for the rest of my life, all I’m trying to do is get the story out there and for people to leave us alone.
From school we have always been confused.
“When I moved back people would say ‘I am Gavin’ and I would say ‘no,’ ‘no.’
“I shouldn’t have to move or defend myself against something I haven’t done.”
