ARMED police have been scrambled to a “huge sword fight” near Birmingham which has left at least one person injured.
Emergency services were called to reports of a large fight between a gang of men in Dudley, West Midlands.
One of the men reportedly brandished a sword-like weapon in the brawl which broke out at 10am this morning.
Police say six men have now been been detained and another has been injured. The weapon has also been recovered.
A West Midlands Police spokesman told Birmingham Live: “Police received several 999 calls from 10am this morning (June 9) reporting men fighting in Cinder Bank, Netherton, and reports that one man had a sword-like weapon.
“Police officers, including armed police, arrived at the scene and detained six men, one of whom had cuts to his hands. No-one was seriously hurt.”
The force’s firearms operations unit added on Twitter: “TeamC have been deployed to reports of a fight involving a person wielding a sword in #netherton this morning.
After detaining several people, one person has been arrested and the weapon recovered. @DetectivesWMP continue enquiries with @DudleyPolice @ResponseWMP”
One witness later told the Birmingham Live that the scene was “chaos”.
They said: “I have never seen anything like that in my life – it was chaos.
“Police did a very good job of handling the situation.”
