A teenager died after being pulled into a meat mixer at a sausage factory.
Jomar Junco, 18, had only started working at the plant in La Paz in The Philippines, two weeks before he was dragged into the machine head first.
The young worker caught his right arm in the mixer, causing him to be pulled inside, police spokesperson Jerwin Servano said.
Reports said that the accident took place at around 7.30am and the emergency services arrived on the scene about 9am.
Although some media outlets stated that Junco was dragged inside a meat grinder, a spokesperson from the Porras Funeral Home, where the victim’s body is being kept, confirmed it was a meat mixing machine.
The machine was switched on at the time and continued to drag the victim inside after he first caught his right arm, according to reports.
Colleague Carl David Carlos turned off the machine when Junco’s top half was already inside the mixer.
Meanwhile, the local police believe the teen’s death was an accident and there were no signs of foul play.
Funeral director Ardee Porras said that Junco’s body was still intact when it was taken out of the mixer.
She believes it may be possible that the victim suffocated in the machine.
The local authorities are still waiting for autopsy results to establish the exact cause of death.
