Hoarder, 80, was eaten by her DOG after dying in filthy home

THE skeletal remains of an elderly woman has been found in her filthy junk-filled home after having been eaten by her dog and rats.

Sally Honeycheck died at the age of 80 years old in her Detroit home, surrounded by squalor from years of hoarding.

Her cousin Linda Kajma discovered her corpse sitting upright in a lawn chair in the kitchen under a picture of the Last Supper.

Ms Kajma became concerned when her relative failed to answer her phone on Thanksgiving.

She broke into the home wearing a hazmat suit and expected the worst.

Speaking to Detroit Free Press, she said: “I was preparing myself for the worst.

“Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d be in a situation like this.”

The Detroit native said when she came across the body she “thought it was a skeleton with a wig” and assumed it must have been a Halloween costume.

To live like this is beyond belief … Part of her face was gone.”

She added: “I know it’s an illness but if you met [her] on the street you’d never ever know.

“If you looked at the outside of the house, you’d never know this nightmare existed.”

Ms Kajma has spent the past five months cleaning out the home and wading through piles of decades-old filthy possessions, admitting she was frustrated at the situation.

She said: “I’m emotional but I’m more pissed because three years ago I told her to get a will … I said she needed to do something because God forbid I’m the one who has to break in and find dead bodies.”

A Wayne County Medical examiner found that Honeycheck died of natural causes but suffered “extensive postmortem animal consumption.”

Her pet rottweiler Jack was reportedly found deceased in a neighbouring room.
