Hero dad, 35, who rescued 13-month-old baby daughter from devastating house fire dies

A HERO dad who rescued his 13-month-old daughter from a devastating house fire has died in hospital.

Neil Thompson, 35, suffered serious injuries as the blaze tore through his home in Moray, Scotland, ten days ago.

The businessman tragically passed away in hospital on Saturday after he frantically pulled baby Hailey from her bed as flames engulfed the house.

Hailey and mum Natalie, 31, suffered serious injuries but have now been released from hospital.

Mum-of-three Natalie posted a heartbreaking Facebook status where she described Neil and her three girls as “My World”.

She accompanied the post with a touching photo of Neil holding the tot, and another of the couple kissing.

A flood of messages from family and friends showing their support was posted underneath.

Anne Masson said: “Och Natalie I’m heartbroken for you all.

Please know I’m thinking of you and the girlies. Lots of love and hugs to all.”

Another added: “So so sorry to hear about Neil, Natalie.

“Hope you and Hailey are getting better all the time. Love and hugs to you all xx.”

Almost 50 firefighters tackled the blaze after it erupted at around 3.45am on February 21.

There are no apparent suspicious circumstances surrounding the fire, police said.

Detective Inspector Norman Stevenson added: “My thoughts are with everyone affected by this tragic incident.”
