THIS is the heartstopping moment a 12-year-old boy is mowed down by a London bus – after apparently being chased by another youth.
In CCTV from a takeaway the youngster is seen flying around the corner on his bike in Newham before he smashes into the bus and bounces on to the pavement
Another teen appears to be running after him but stops as he slams into the door of the red bus.
In the shocking crash, which happened last Thursday, the teen suffered head injuries but these aren’t thought to be life-threatening.
The video, captured on CCTV in a takeaway, was posted to Facebook with the caption: “Prince regents lane. Plaistow.”
In the clip a group of teenage girls in the restaurant turn in shock as the boy smashes into the bus.
He is thrown backwards and can be partially seen lying on the pavement and making slight movements.
At the end of the shocking footage one of his trainers comes up and can be seen on the road.
After the bike appears, a youth sprints in to view, apparently chasing the cyclist.
He stops when the accident happens and spins round with his hands on his head.
As the teen is sprawled in the road next tot he bus, the other boy gradually walks over to look at him.
A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We were called at 2:55pm to Prince Regent Lane at the junction of Barking Road to reports of a road traffic collision.
We sent an ambulance crew to the scene who arrived in under three minutes.
“We treated a child for head injuries and took them to a major trauma centre as a priority.”
Claire Mann, TfL’s director of bus operations, told the Newham Recorder: “We are sorry to learn of an incident involving a route 147 and a child on Prince Regent Lane and our thoughts are with them and their family.
“We are working with Go Ahead London, the operator for this route, and the police, to urgently investigate this incident.”
