A mum who was due to marry her partner next month is now planning his memorial service after he tragically died – just months after their ‘miracle’ twins were born.
Nikki Fletcher, 34, was left devastated after her ‘gentle giant’ fiance Mark Lawrence, 51, was found dead at their home.
Miss Fletcher had only given birth to their twin sons George and Oliver in November last year after they were born 15 weeks premature.
Now, instead of looking forward to marrying IT specialist Mr Lawrence in April, Miss Fletcher is planning a memorial for him.
The tribute event for Mr Lawrence, known as ‘the greatest showman’, will have a photo booth, bouncy castle and sumo wrestling suits to match his ‘big kid at heart’ attitude.
Photographs taken on the day of Mr Lawrence’s memorial service in a selfie booth will be put in a memory box for his twins.
Miss Fletcher, from Waterlooville, Hants, said: “Losing Mark feels like I’ve lost a massive part of my heart.
The last few months have been very hard for us with the boys coming early and Mark being made redundant from a job he had been in for 21 years.
“Mark was an amazing man who loved life and hid his problems – which I wish he never had as if he spoke about them he may still be here today.
Miss Fletcher added: “If anything can come out of this then hopefully it is to raise awareness of the difficulties of mental health.”
