Freddo Frog chocolate bars hop back to 10p after nation demands 1994 price is restored — but only for a week

THE price of Freddo chocolate bars will drop to 10p for a week starting today.

The 16p saving at Tesco follows an online campaign to restore the treat to its 1994 relaunch price.

The bars, originally from Australia, increased gradually each year until a 2017 jump to 30p.

Last February Jeremy Corbyn said the rises should be looked into “to see if there is excessive profit-making”.

A month later makers Cadbury cut the price to 25p.

Tesco is celebrating its centenary with a series of price drops.

The retail giant said: “We understand that the nation wanted to see the price of the iconic Freddo chocolate bars return to the original price of 10p.

“Given we are celebrating 100 years of great value, we’re really pleased to have been able to give our customers what they want, and have some fun at the same time!”
