A fight broke out across two lanes on a busy motorway after a crash.
Police had to be called to the M6 following the altercation on the Thelwall viaduct in Cheshire, near junction 20.
The fight started on the northbound carriageway at around 4.30pm following a road traffic collision, police said.
It took place across lanes three and four of the road, the Daily Post reports.
Both lanes had to be closed after the incident which caused long delays for motorists travelling home after the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.
But North West Motorway Police blasted drivers who ignored the lane closures.
They warned people who contravened signs that they will be hearing “from officers in coming weeks”.
The force shared photos on Twitter and said: “Lane closures set on Thelwall viaduct after a fight broke out in lanes 3 & 4 following an RTC.
“Picture 1 is the scene and the following pictures are 800 yards further back of vehicles using closed lanes who are a few of many that can expect to hear from officers in coming weeks.”
Earlier they had tweeted: “Two lanes closed on the M6 NB Thelwall viaduct due to an RTC.
“Police in attendance assisting Highways but impeded getting to scene due to motorists ignoring the red X’s.
“Our vehicles have CCTV fitted registration numbers have been captured.”
