Kerry Katona fans have jumped to her defence after Fathers4Justice accused her of being partly to blame for her ex-husband’s death.
George Kay , 39, who was married to Kerry for three years, died from an apparent drug overdose on Saturday.
Fans were left disgusted when the men’s rights activist group tweeted the mum-of-five, who shares five-year-old daughter Dylan Jorge with George, telling her she has “blood on her hands” over his death.
They accused Kerry of denying him access to his daughter, who he had not seen in a year, but there was a restraining order still in place when he died keeping George away from the reality star.
George, who had a long history of drug abuse and had battled mental health issues during their chaotic relationship, was pronounced dead on arrival to hospital on Saturday.
Outraged social media users responded to the post by the controversial campaign group, with one writing: “What a disgusting response to someone’s death and to a mother who has to tell a young child her father has died.
“It’s a sad situation but nobody put those drugs in his hands so don’t bring an ex who was aware of his problems into it to get yourself attention.”
Another fumed: “This is a disgusting statement and it does your cause no favours at all. Kerry didn’t force him to take drugs or behave in a way that required a restraining order. That was HIS choice.”
“That’s absolutely abhorrent final thought. You should be ashamed,” wrote a third.
One upset Twitter user asked: “How can you honestly blame @ KerryKatona7 no one knows what goes on behind closed doors she had her reasons for leaving him, he was troubled by drugs for a long time, she has to tell her daughter he came to you for help yes but to blame someone for this his ex shame on you.”
Another angry person wrote: “He took drugs, he has a history of taking drugs he overdosed how in any way is that her fault??? It could’ve been accidental. Point scoring at its finest.”
Fathers4Justice also branded the Atomic Kitten star a “c***” in a response to one person’s tweet.
Kerry is yet to break her silence on the death of George, who she divorced in 2017, and has said in the past that he was violent towards her during their relationship.
Mirror Online have spoken with Kerry’s reps who declined to comment further at this time.
A close family friend of Kerry last night said: “Kerry was told this afternoon that George suffered an overdose and was taken to hospital, but was declared dead on arrival.
