EastEnders viewers fear Hayley is dead and her baby will drown after big mistake

Hayley Slater could not escape her demons and turned to booze – putting her life and baby Cherry’s in danger

EastEnders viewers fear Hayley Slater is dead – and they were worried that her baby would drown.

Hayley hit the bottle on tonight’s episode as she struggled to cope with life as a mum.

She was unable to breastfeed Cherry because she is used to formula after being kidnapped by Alfie.

Hayley couldn’t face being around her baby’s father and sat on a bench in the middle of the Square with Cherry.

She complicated drinking a bottle of vodka, and it quickly became apparent that she had turned back to booze.

She was nearly rumbled by Big Mo, who asked if she had been drinking after smelling her breath.

Hayley managed to come up with an excuse and headed into the bathroom to give Cherry a wash.

The despairing mum put her baby in a small tub in the bath and locked the door so no one could get in.

She told her: “You’re going to sit in here too wait for me while i sort thing out.”

Hayley then left her daughter so that she could sit on the toilet and drink some more vodka

EastEnders viewers feared the worst and speculated that Cherry could drown

Later on, Alfie and Kat rushed upstairs when they heard Jean shouting upstairs as she tried to get into the bathroom.

Mo admitted: “Looked like she had a skinfull.”

Alfie broke the lock and they all saw Cherry lying alone in the bath, while Hayley was passed out on the toilet.

Is Hayley still alive? And if so will her baby be taken away from her?

EastEnders viewers took to Twitter with their fears for Hayley and the baby.

One viewer said: “I really hope poor Hayley isn’t dead.”

Another added: “I was so scared Hayley was going to accidentally drown Cherry… so relieved the baby is okay!”

A third said: “If Hayley carries on she’s gonna lose her baby girl”
