DANCING ON ICE got off to a fiery start this evening as Phillip Schofield took to defending Jane Danson when she got some tough criticism from Jason Gardiner.
Jane Danson performed an emotional routine on Dancing On Ice this evening.
She took to the ice to skate to I Dreamed A Dream from Les Miserables.
Although she scored well, Jane found herself completely overcome with emotion throughout the whole thing.
The Coronation Street actress cried at the end of her dance after telling Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby the song meant a lot to her.
But the judges seemed to be especially critical of her, especially Jason Gardiner.
Notoriously difficult to please, he felt the routine wasn’t emotional enough.
The Dancing On Ice judge told Jane: “Okay, so you are an actress and you should have played this perfectly.”
He went on to explain how he wanted to see the loss, regret and sadness of Jane’s character.
“I didn’t get that tonight at all with what you presented.”
The audience booed Jason but it was Phillip who stepped in to protect Jane.
Phillip said in a joking tone: “She’s crying, how dare you, you nasty man!”
The team moved on and it seemed Jane was relatively happy with her scores.
Earlier in the evening, Phillip seemed to be confused as to which Jason he was dealing with this evening.
Grease star, Didi Conn, opened the show this evening and it seemed to be a jolly affair.
She did a thrilling routine to Mary Poppins’ Spoonful of Sugar.
