CORRIE star Alex Bain has split from his high school girlfriend less than five months after they celebrated the birth of their baby girl.
The 17-year-old, who plays bad boy Simon Barlow on the soap, and Levi Selby, also 17, welcomed little Lydia-Rose into the world on December 2 last year.
The pair, who had just sat their GCSEs, were flooded with messages from well-wishers after Levi posted a picture of the tot on Facebook wearing an adorable butterfly hat and pink onesie alongside heart emojis.
They had started dating in April last year and were said to have split briefly in July.
Alex denied the rumours after Levi posted her 12-week scan on Facebook, saying: “I’m still with my girlfriend and can’t wait to have my own little family.”
But now The Sun can reveal they have separated for good – and Levi, of Blackburn, Lancs, has started dating someone new.
A source said: “They were over the moon at the birth of their baby girl and were really happy together.
“But they’ve been through a lot together and they’re both still so young.
It’s a shame they couldn’t make the relationship work but they’ve gone their separate ways.
“They’re both now just trying to move on but they absolutely adore their daughter.”
Last month Levi posted a picture of the five-month-old alongside the caption: “I love you so much princess. Forever and always mummy’s girl.”
Alex’s portrayal of Ken Barlow’s grandson Simon saw him win Best Young Performance at the British Soap Awards in 2011.
