A British woman has died on a flight to a UK airport.
The woman, in her 70s, was travelling on a Balkan Holidays plane from Burgas, Bulgaria, to Humberside Airport when she fell ill mid-air.
After landing at the north Lincolnshire airport at 6:55am on Sunday morning, passengers were led from the flight before the woman’s body was removed by emergency services.
Her death is not being treated as suspicious and her family have been informed, reports Hull Live .
A spokeswoman for Humberside Police said: “We were called to Humberside Airport this morning to reports that a woman in her 70s had been taken ill and sadly died on board a flight coming into Humberside Airport.
Her family have been informed and there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.”
A spokesman for Humberside Airport said: “We responded to a call for assistance related to a medical emergency on board a scheduled flight, which landed safely this morning (Sunday, June 23).
Following the aircraft’s arrival, our emergency response teams assisted passengers and crew on the aircraft, and we are now liaising with Humberside Police.”
Balkan Holidays also expressed its condolences to the woman’s family.
A spokeswoman said: “We would like to express our deepest sympathy and sincere condolences to the family and friends of our passenger who died yesterday. We are co-operating with the Humberside Police and airport authorities regarding this matter.
