British Thomas Cook passenger ‘called Muslim men terrorists’

A British woman kept a flight to London waiting more than an hour after she labelled three Muslim passengers in white prayer robes “terrorists” and refused to fly with them, fellow passengers have claimed.

The woman said she was having a panic attack before hurling racist abuse at the men on a Thomas Cook flight MT105 from Dalaman, Turkey to London this morning.

The woman, thought to be in her 30s, delayed the plane by 70 minutes as she told flight attendants she was too panicked to fly with the men and refused to board.

Once she did she launched into a racist rant saying staff were “disgusting” to make her fly with the trio and that it “shouldn’t be allowed.”

Shamea Oldham, 18, from London said: “She was stood at the front of the plane screaming abuse. She kept saying she didn’t want to fly with them and refused to let the plane take off with them on board.

“She said the other passengers were disturbed to want to fly with them.

What she was saying was appalling. She was screaming saying they were a ‘threat’”.

The flight was due to take off at 1.25am but was held up to after 2.25am when the woman was taken off the plane by police.

Dad-of-three Mario Van Poppel, 40, was returning from a family holiday with his pregnant wife, 11-year-old son and twin girls aged 4.

He said she called the men “terrorists” and reduced other passengers to tears with her racist tirade.

He said: “When we got on she was speaking to one of the flight crew and saying she was having a panic attack.

“It went on longer and longer until another passenger asked a flight attendant what was happening. She said the woman was refusing to board the plane.

“They were trying to talk her around but she wasn’t having it.

“Eventually she came back to take her hand luggage off the plane.

She was swearing and was very aggressive. She used the word terrorist.”

The business owner from Datchet added: “Kids were crying. An elderly woman behind me was reduced to tears.

“The Muslim men were offended but they kept their cool.”

It was around 2.50am when the woman, who was with another male passenger, was escorted off the plane, to jeers and shouts from other shocked passengers disgusted by her behaviour.

Mario said: “It was nice to see the whole plane was united against her. It wasn’t right what she did. Everyone was standing up for the guys.
