IF you don’t want your furry friends to overheat in the summer sun then you might want to head down to Aldi and B&M which are selling cooling mats for pets.
So now you can sunbathe in the garden alongside your pet pooch or cat knowing that they can stay cool.
B&M’s range starts from just £4.99 for its brightly coloured fruit-themed mats shaped as a watermelon, orange or kiwi.
They’re roughly 60cm by 60cm and also promise to help with allergies, heat stroke, skin conditions and post-surgery.
If you fancy something slightly less garish, then B&M also sells pet “air flow” mats in red, grey or blue for £9.99.
These are made from durable mesh and nylon, which B&M says lets air circulate below the body.
They’re roughly 48cm by 73cm by 3.8cm.
You can also buy a slightly pricier cooling mat with bolstered sides for added comfort that’s infused with citronella essential oils, which B&M says acts as an insect repellent and aids relaxation.
These cost £12.99 and are available with a flamingo or water print. They’re roughly 85cm by 52cm and are designed to sit in a pet crate.
You can only buy the mats in store at B&M and they are subject to availability. Use B&M’s store locator tool to find your nearest branch.
But B&M isn’t the only discount retailer to be selling pet cooling mats this summer.
Aldi has a blue cooling mat in small (40cm by 30cm by 1cm) and medium (64cm by 50cm by 1cm) for £4.99 each.
These contain a pressure-activated gel that Aldi says brings down body temperature by absorbing body heat.
Aldi adds that they can also help to relieve pain, aches and stress.
Plus, they’re wipe clean which helps with those muddy paws.
Aldi’s medium version is sold out online but the small version is still available, although you will have to pay £2.95 for standard delivery or to collect in store.

Aldi and B&M’s ranges are a real steal compared to other retailers with Argos’ medium-sized pet cooling mat costing £12.99 and Amazon’s costing £19.99.
