A BABY has been airlifted to hospital after he was found unconscious in a swimming pool during the heatwave.
It’s believed the one-year-old crawled out of his home in Bognor Regis, and fell into an open-air pool in the garden
Soon after realising he was missing, a search of the upstairs and downstairs rooms at the boy’s home initially failed to find any sign of him.
But when family members went outside, they found the baby submerged in the swimming pool.
An air ambulance, paramedics and police rushed to his home in West Sussex yesterday afternoon.
After emergency treatment on the baby, he was flown by helicopter to Southampton General Hospital where doctors were put on emergency standby.
The boy is believed to have been in a critical condition when he was airlifted for further treatment.
Police were understood to have interviewed the family about the circumstances of the incident and to have ruled that it was a tragic family accident.
No further details of the child’s condition have yet been released.
