A MAN was today dragged from his car and reportedly attacked with a machete outside a Costa Coffee.

The victim was left lying in a pool of blood after a vicious six-man brawl erupted in Smethwick, Birmingham, this afternoon.

Two men were injured following the huge fight at around 12.50pm today – the hottest day of the year so far.

Cops said six men were brandishing weapons – with one eyewitnesses claiming one of the men was armed with a machete.

A silver Ford Fiesta had its windscreen smashed following the fight.

The extent of the men’s injuries is not yet known.

Local cops have now launched an investigation and are appealing for witnesses.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “Police received several 999 calls reporting disorder involving around six men with weapons on Bearwood Road, Smethwick at around 12:50pm this afternoon.

A vehicle was damaged and two people are thought to have been injured, the extent of their injuries is not known at this stage.”

It comes as the UK is facing a huge knife crime epidemic with more than 30 deaths being recorded in London alone since the start of 2019.

With last year being the capital’s bloodiest in almost a decade, as the number of homicides reached 135, the plague of knife crime is not nearing its end.

As of June 16, there were at least 31 fatalities from stabbings in London this year.
